T/A Story

I bought my T/A back in 1991 for $1500.00.It was in pretty rough shape, the car was hit in a couple places and it needed all new paint and decals. The interior needed both bucket seats redone, new carpet, headliner, dash pad, console, package tray, sill plates, pretty much the whole interior except for the back seats and door panels.

The first thing I did was install a new 4 row radiator and a new water pump to see how good or bad the car ran. It was leaking coolant as fast as you could pour it in. I got all that fixed and a new set of a/c plugs and took it out for a beatin. I was surprised at how much torque the 403 had with the weak 2.73 gears the factory put in. the car ran great with the odometer showing 106,000 miles. The next thing was to get all the paint stripped off and get it ready to go to the body shop.

It took about 2 months to get the body work done and the car painted, pretty quick for a complete paint job at today's standards. All the bodywork and paint was done by Henry Sincavage who has been in the business for 20 + years. I drove the car back to my shop and began wet sanding and buffing. This process took over a week and several cans of beer after work and then another few days to apply the decals. The seats and headliner were back from the upholstery shop along with the new carpet I ordered. I bought an nos console from a friend of mine for $50 bucks, he wrecked his firebird and never put it in, try and find one of those today for that kind of money.

Over the years I've done tons of work on this car, I put a set of 3.73 Richmond gears in it, pulled the motor and overhauled it with  a huge crane cam that makes it sound like a NASCAR coming out of the 2 1/2 inch Flowmaster exhaust system that I custom bent myself. A B & M shift kit was put in the turbo 350 trans to make sure the car jumped sideways coming out of first gear. The four 15x8 snowflake wheels were sent out and completely restored with the correct gold paint, clear coated and then finished off with a set of Cooper Cobra 225/70/15 tires. I am almost done with this car after 13 years of working on it and about $9000.00. All it needs are little odds and ends here and there, new weather strip around the doors, some more under car detailing. I have won several first place trophies at the local car shows.
